Crystal McDougle, LGSW

I’m Crystal, a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), doctoral student in Social Work, and founder of The Practice of Living, a Washington, DC-based practice centered on the ongoing work of being human.

The Practice of Living exists at the intersection of mental health, creativity, and community. Through therapy, group experiences, and consulting, I create spaces for reflection, connection, and meaningful change.

My approach is shaped by years spent navigating high-performance environments as a Division I athlete, entrepreneur, and community practitioner. Those experiences taught me that achievement does not always answer the deeper questions we carry about identity, purpose, and belonging.

Today, my work is guided by curiosity, relational connection, and a belief that the stories we create about ourselves influence how we move through the world. Whether supporting an individual, facilitating a group, or partnering with an organization, I aim to create experiences that invite deeper understanding and intentional growth.

Alongside my clinical practice, I am pursuing doctoral studies in Social Work, exploring the intersection between creativity, community, and collective wellbeing.

Outside of my work, I find inspiration through running, travel, dance, writing, and the everyday rituals that make life feel meaningful.
